Happy Father's day!

Dad was a super cute baby!

with my Grandfather-miss you!

He grew up to be a very handy and good young man!

And then he served his country well...

Married a sweet young girl from York County Pa...

And had an adorable baby...me!

And a few years later had another baby girl...

I entered the Quilting Gallery's Themed Quilt Contest this week.

The theme is Quilts for Dad.  Having made an entire wall hanging series for my Dad I had to enter.

The quilt was one I drew out and made when I was fearless and oblivious to the 'rules' back in 1994 1993.  If you look closely I turned in the edges and had stitched them closed, I think Carrie called this knife edge binding.  I didn't know what real binding was.  I hand quilted and appliqued and embroidered.  The star fabrics were fabulous cottons from a fancy fabric store.  That really looks like the back of my dad, though his hair is now more salt then pepper.  The inscription reads "To the best Dab, his hands create wonders, for those he loves."  Fireworks are in the sky.  He is wearing his flag shirt.  He was born July 5th and we always have a huge 4th of July party with fireworks.

I made two more for two more birthdays.  All were very personal.

Summer Sewing and Tula Pink

I sewed this bag last weekend.  It is Amy Butler's Birdie Sling.  I was motivated by the Wednesday's visit by Tula Pink. 

I used a different colorway on the other side.

I used scraps to make the pockets.

I got Tula Pink to sign this pocket in the green area. 

I made Tula a bookmark with a scrap, I was making other bookmarks and was a little addicted.

Eeek!  I never have acted the groupie before but she was pretty awesome!  We took a photo at The Little General quilt shop but I dont have really good pics because I forgot my camera and all I had was my iphone.  But here are some of the quilts she brought and fabric samples she shared at her talk at The Graylin International Conference Center

Tula Pink showed us sketches of the new collection she is working on called 

After the talk we hung out at Old Staley's Bar & Grill,  listened to Sean sing, and talked for a couple of hours.  It was a really great night.

This is Gina owner of The Little General and her husband Sam.

Bookmarkapalooza!

So tomorrow is 5th grade graduation and I am presenting 4 awards to my library volunteers.  I wanted to give them a little something too.  So tonight I whipped up these bookmarks. 

 I think I have found a new addiction!

And then I went a little nutty and found this scrap of Nightshade and...

and because embroidery is so much fun, and I like to read and Tula writes books so she must like to read.

Ok so I don't remember what redound or redox means but they made sense at the time.

Here is my cozy little nook I was sewing and embroidering in and tweet chatting in all at the same time!  Cause it is Tuesday and that means Talkin Tuesdays!  Wow!  What a multitasker!
