Monday I participated in an amazing event.
Monday is my regular NOBO (No Boundaries ) night.
It was practice #3 of our couch to 5k group sponsored by Fleet Feet.
But it turned out to be more than a 2 mile run/walk.
It turned into an amazing show of caring, friendship, and support for Boston.
Keith and Emily, owners of our local Fleet Feet sports organized our local event with other Fleet Feets around the country having their own. Over 800 people came!
I hooked up with some friends from previous NOBO sessions.
And some new friends from this spring session.
They started the event by Stacey lining us up by what we were run/walking.
1,2,3,or 5 miles.
Keith began the run by introducing a group of people who had been at the race. The group included a firefighter whose daughter is still in the hospital. Her boyfriend pushed her out of the way when the explosion happened. Her boyfriend and his brother each lost a leg in the bombing.
We all held hands and came in close together.
And Keith read from Romans 12: 9-21
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[e]
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

We raised our hands in unity !
Then we all sang the national anthem,
Please excuse the awful singing. I couldn't find my key.
It was really awe inspiring moment!
I walked with my quilty/NOBO friend Kim the 2 mile route.
At the finish line a new friend Fleet Feet Pete was there to greet us!
And more NOBO friends!
Dawnyelle...
And Stacey our fearless leader!
There were some amazing shirts and shows of support!
The positive energy of the evening was incredible!
keep dreaming...Colleen
After the run Carolina Vineyards & Hops opened just for our event. The Salem choir sang. I enjoyed a glass of Scuppernong juice. |
