This is the quilt I made to swap for the DQS 14. It was a labor of scrappy, Tula Pink, fussy cut, low volume love.
title: Prism Star
size: 24" by 24"
design: Original by Colleen Yarnell
inspiration: Bright rainbow colors and low volume prints with anything Tula Pink.
I started with these Tula Pink purples.
Then I did some scrappy fabric pulls and started cutting squares. I have a great scrap stash.
I decides to build a rainbow star with a low volume background. I had no repeats for the ROYGBIV fabrics. I did repeat on the low volume prints. Some I turned over to lesson the tone. Then I laid it out.
Sewing it together.
I went ahead and pieced the label from scraps of purple Tula Pink.
I was going to hand quilt in different pearl cottons but then decided simple straight line to enhance the lines of the quilt.
I used a scrappy low volume binding with colors thrown in to match the star points.

It's beautiful. Aren't we lucky to be able to create such a happy piece.
This is so gorgeous! Love that low volume background.
I really love this, the colors and background are perfect.
LOVE this! It's especially awesome that you documented your process so well.
Beautiful! Both the colours and the making.
This is wonderful! You did a great job with this and with all your fabric choices and placement!
I love that you flipped over the fabric to make it more neutral - I do that a lot and was wondering if I was the only one!
Colleen, I loved it during DQS and still do! Beautiful job with the colors!
You have my vote. Love it.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Fantastic. I would have been beyond happy if this had been my quilt. Love the mix of fabrics, the larger parisville square and the star. I cam over from BQF and am glad I did!
