Merry Christmas! Because Sew Mama Sew! is so graciously organizing this giveaway day I have decided to do another sweep of my stash and pull out some more vintage 1990's Christmas fabric. I have come up with a real variety! So the giveaway involves nothing more then you commenting about a favorite holiday memory or tradition on this post. You don't have to be a follower unless you want to. Giveaway close Friday at 12:00am and the winner will be chosen Saturday, December 18th.
This is 1/2 of the panel. The other half has a large mouse and two small mice |
About a fat quarter of this red and green plaid. |
One of my favorite ld fabrics. I made a Christmas curtain from it years ago. About 1/2 yard piece. |
About 1.75 yards of this gorgeous red, green, and gold print. |
I love this 1 yard print that has scenes of Santa, Christmas story, and children in soft colors. |
And because I found a stash of these rolls of Christmas ribbons, I chose two that fit in the box! They are a stiff fabric.
Good luck on the giveaways!
I’m leaving you with two you tube videos by the band Orleans. They surprised every on Saturday night by playing a set at the end of the local Symphony holiday food drive concert. Luckily I had my camera.
Marry Christmas!!
Keep dreaming…Colleen
Awesome giveaway! The kitten is so cute! My favorite Christmas memory happened when I was a teenager. My uncle bought everyone in the house (about 20 of us) some toy guns that shot Nerf circles. The whole family ran around the house and yard having a shoot-out. Grandma and Grandpa and little cousins and parents too! It was so much fun!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas memory is the Scrooge box that my father made every year. He played like he didn't like Christmas and all the stuff that went on. Yet every year he baked cookies, cakes, and made fudge. He also make a box with small hand made gifts in it for every person who came to the house on Christmas day. People would come unannounced and there was a present with their name on it in the box even though my father was locked in his room and wasn't seen till night fall.We still have a Scrooge box during Christmas time when the family gets together.
ReplyDeleteAll three children decorating the tree and house together when they were younger! Now all grown up!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite memory, (and funniest) is when my now 20 something son was only 4 and he used to sleep walk, We could not find him on Christmas morning, He was asleep outside in the dog house!
ReplyDeleteBaking the Christmas cake and the whole family stirring the pudding and making a wish!
ReplyDeleteI will try my luck :) Thanks for th giveaway! My best memory about christmas... I think visiting my grandma when I was a kid and spending lots of time with animals in the late evening waiting for them to start to speak (it's one of those things which you tell your kids and they belive you :P ).
ReplyDeleteI also have a giveaway on my blog if you like to visit :)
Best regards

My Dad playing Santa every Christmas morning. Before we could go into the living room, he would stand at the door, jingle the bells and say, "Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!" in a very deep voice. Then, Mom would look in the room and make sure all was clear. We would race to our stockings, squealing with delight.
ReplyDeleteI'm participating in the Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day! I hope you have time to stop over and enter my giveaway at homemakerhoney.com

When I was a kid, we used to take the train from Miami to North Carolina every Christmas. My most memorable train ride was the time it took us four days to make the trip, where it usually took a day and a half - the train broke down, the observation car caught on fire, you name it, it happened! But we played a LOT of Bingo, and I remember leaving the train with sixteen bags of oranges that we won! Funny the memories that stick with you!!
ReplyDeleteI have several memories but my favorite was having both kids home at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was small my BFF's mom and dad had a friend who dressed up as Santa Claus every year. My BFF lived across the street and her mom and dad sent Santa over to surprise us. There were 5 little faces in disbelieve when Santa came charging through our front door. We all screamed and I tried to hide under the kitchen table. Our eyes were big as saucers. A great memory for me. Love the old fabrics. Thanks for the chance to win.....
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas fabric! My favorite memory was staying up all night long because we were so excited for Christmas!
ReplyDeletelove the kitten fabric -so cute!
ReplyDeletefavorite memories of getting together with family :)
I hope my favorite Christmas memory will be made this year when we share it with our two young grandsons! Thanks for having such a wonderful giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory is staying up all night on Christmas Eve, helping my mom frantically wrap all the present she bought for me and my siblings. We would often finish just as everyone else was getting up on Christmas morning. KARENLUND@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteLOVE your fabrics, thanks for the chance!

Memory...do you know how old I am? I'm lucky to remember my name. :) However, I do remember getting oranges in a wooden box shipped all the way from California from my grandmother there. It was such a treat for my family..we were quite poor and there were four kids and usually other grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. staying for a while. The smell of those oranges was better than ice cream. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory is one year I got a brown floral suitcase filled with smaller gifts, including my first set of markers in a plastic case. Wish I had that suitcase now!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE the red/green/gold fabric!!! My favorite memory is that my parents used to hide a pickle ornament in the tree on Christmas night and us 6 girls would scramble down in the morning and not care about Santa gifts...it was all about finding the pickle because that meant you got an extra gift!! :-)
ReplyDeletemugirl113 at gmail dot com
Thank you for the give away. I love older Christmas fabric.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas memory is delivering Christmas cookies with my dad. What a fun giveaway! I love Christmas fabric.
ReplyDeleteBecause of the husband's work schedule, he always works right up to Christmas, then has the week after off. So, for the past couple of years we have done "postponed Christmas" and bumped everything forward a week, so we have that time off to spend together watching Christmas movies, baking, etc. People think it's weird, but it works for us, and has become a holiday tradition!
ReplyDeleteI love our newest family tradition which is having meatloaf for Christmas dinner. It's so much easier than spending the whole afternoon in the kitchen doing a big turkey dinner, and the whole family loves it!
ReplyDeleteOf course decorating gingerbread houses and cookies with the kids, and going to their Christmas pageants at school are always fun and exciting. when they get old enough, I hope to be able to start up the tradition of going to Midnight Mass again, but by that time, I will probably be TOO old and tired to do it!
Great giveaway!

My favorite memory is Christmas tree 'hunting' with the kids. Driving up into the bush and finding the perfect not-too-scraggley wild tree

When I was a child we would always get a little present on New Year's from "Santa's Elves".
ReplyDeleteMy son's first Xmas - he had to be in the NICU and was only 6 days old. I just sat there rocking him, not thinking about anything else but holding him.
ReplyDeleteLove de-stashing giveaways, they're the best.
I love making Christmas chocolates with my mom :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Christmas hymns that make you want to sing at the top of your lungs at parts. O Holy Night comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition has to be my husband and I taking our dogs out to the big park for an early morning walk - it's always the calm before the storm!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity!

I loved seeing the kids see all the packages under the tree when they were little. Real excitement. Too bad that can't last.
ReplyDeleteI love when we sing carols together with the family. Thanks for the chance to win in your giveaway. WHat wonderful fabric.
ReplyDeleteSinging and singing and singing. We had to sing before opening presents, and everyone (all 25 of us) had to pick a carol. We sang for a long time, often in 2 or 3 part harmony.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Oh wow. Your giveaway took me back to my Grandmother's sewing room. She loved Christmas fabrics and she made all of us so many cute things using fabrics like the santas and the kittens. I really wish I had been smart and sentimental enough to save all of those little pieces and creations. I have a few, but I wish I still had them all!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday memory is all the times spent at my now deceased Grandparents and Great Aunts houses on Christmas. Christmas Eve was spent at my Grams, all the family was there... early gifts, etc.
dnadams[at]gmail[dot]com
My favorite holiday memories is the first time my mom actually let me help decorate the tree. She has alway been very picky about it and it was fun when we both were able to decorate it and look at all our fun ornaments.
ReplyDeleteI hope I get lucky again because I love the fabric, and the mice are so cute. Way back in the early 60's my mother bought a beautiful creche. The figures are relatively big, and all of them including the manger take up the top of the buffet in the dining room. I have it now, and it's the first Christmas decoration that goes up and the last to come down. It isn't Christmas without it, for me at least.
ReplyDeletei love making my mom's famous nanaimo bar recipe...and eating them!!
ReplyDeleteFavorite holiday tradition is candy making with my dad. Started about the time these fabrics came from. Has it been 20 years already???
ReplyDeleteWe have a delicious Christmas Eve dinner filled with cheese fondue, breads, veggies, stories and songs. It wouldn't feel like Christmas without it.

I am going to tell you what I would want to say in response to your question next year. I would love to say: my favorite Christmas memory is from last Christmas, when my son was born healthy!!!! (I'm due within the next few weeks)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Christmas memory to date was last year, my first Christmas with my husband and daughter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway, I love the fabric! We always were allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve and I still carry on that tradition.

My favorite tradition has been passed down from many generations - my daughter is even doing it with her new family. It helps us to remember - during the depression, recessions, expressions - even if there was not enough for gifts, there was always an orange in the toe of your stocking.
ReplyDeleteFavourite holiday memory - we have gone to my in-laws for Christmas two years out of three since we were married. I've always enjoyed going there. Now my MIL is deceased and my FIL is old and frail. We are going there for Christmas but it may be his last. I am going to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWhen my brother and I were little we got to open one present on Christmas eve - usually a new family board game. It was packaged 'from the Elves' and my Mum would set up a treasure hunt for us to follow clues around each room of the house until we found the present
ReplyDeleteFestive giveaway! I love getting together with all my kids and grandkids! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletegood morning Colleen,
ReplyDeleteit was fun hanging out with you at dinner last night. Those were some great quilts you made too. To win a quilt, awesome and what a fun giveaway you are having.
Our one tradition is to drive to the mountains to choose and cut our Christmas tree. I think we have only missed twice going up there.
Merry Christmas.
My favorite memories are from when I was a kid, and in the afternoon we would go over to our good friends house, have a big dinner, and their grandmother would usually organize a rousing game of Pit, and she would always be in the middle of it. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeletektyoung1(at)gmail(dot)com
I remember when I was little my family would go to my grandparents (on my mom's side) on Christmas Eve night. I remember always trying to find the really old Mickey Mouse (which I learned recently it's actually Minnie Mouse) ornament on the tree.... my Mom and Dad now have that ornament and it has been promised to me. I will never forget those times spent with my family on Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory of Christmas past combines both my own childhood as well as my children's and that was the continued tradition of having a family service or program on Christmas eve. My father would read the scriptures from the huge family Bible, we'd sing carols around the piano and share our wishes and dreams. My own children would write their own Christmas plays and programs for me and my husband too. Wonderful familytime memories.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to throw my name in the hat for your lovely giveaway!
Cheers,

Hi! What a generous giveaway... My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the tree, which we always do on my birthday, December 11th! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat Giveaway--thanks!! My favorite holiday tradition was making candy with my mother.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple favorite memories but my favorite is our tradition of buying a nutcracker every year. We started the tradition when I was born so there are 27 nutcrackers at my moms house and there are 4 at my house. Since we're apart, I send her one to add to her collection as well. We used to always go see the Nutcracker ballet as well and now that I have a daughter, I can't wait to start that tradition with her as well! This is a spectacular giveaway! The fabrics are amazing and those ribbons are beautiful! Thank you so much!

I love watching my husband set up his Dickens Christmas Village - he is very particular about how the building are laid out historically accurate - for example the church would not be located next to the pub! He puts books underneath to give them different altitudes and then sprinkles white flour all over to look like snow!
ReplyDeletei love thinking about the year i got the Barbie RV for christmas...i just knew there was a real Santa!! fun fabrics, great start to next years chirstmas quilt!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite christmas memories have to be the opening of the presents and gathering of the family.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas memory was the year my sister and I received our first bikes. We were convinced that Santa brought them because my mom could not afford them. It was a magical time. Thanks so much for the awesome giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is our annual Christmas Morning breakfast. I did in in my house growing up and now my Hubbums and I do it and it is something I hold very dear! That plaid fabric is AWESOME! jinglesells at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI love the tradition of nana reading to the grandchildren... because it is now my turn to be the reader... I also like decorating gingerbread houses with my grandkids. I think they eat more candy then what goes on the house.

midnight mass with snow falling as we leave the church.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas memory was when I was about 8 years old. I was sleeping on the sofa on Christmas Eve at my grandmother's, and I woke up and saw Santa! It was my aunt all dressed up placing the presents under the tree, but in my little heart I was convinced it was Santa. That was definitely the highlight on my childhood Christmases.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Christmas memory will be holding a candle outside church on silent night n singing carols right in the middle of the city.
ReplyDeleteBlessed Christmas! thanks for the giveaway :)
I just commented on another blog that 2011 would be my year to make runners for next Christmas. THese fabrics would be ideal! :)
ReplyDeleteA tradition we have is decorating Christmas cookies every year. Also, candle light Christmas eve at church followed by an Acadian meat pie! yum!
I still have the dish cabinet my Daddy made for me when I was 5. My grandkids plan with it every chance they get.
ReplyDeleteLove the christmas fabric!
My favourite traditions are the gifts people make for each other, the fun involved inplanning and surprising.

Our tradition is having an appetizer meal on Christmas Eve - every year it has to be new recipes. Thank you for a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteone holiday tradition we never skip is: our family and the family of some very old (as in long-time, not age... although we are getting there... *grin*) family friends get together each about the end of november to make a full day's worth of christmas cookies. we always make at least two or three sugar cookie trays with solely Christmas Cows... i think the cow cookie cutter was originally only in the cookie cutter tin by accident, but now it is unavoidable and mandatory tradition. We decorate them, painstakingly and uniquely, with egg yolk paint and lots of sprinkles...
ReplyDeletethanks for the opportunity to win! :)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is walking around the Christmas tree with the family, holding hands and singing carols, before opening presents; like we often do in Norway where I am from. Will miss it this year, as my hubby and I are living in South-Korea for a few years, and our "kids" are back home.

My favourite tradition is decorating the tree. I love unpacking the ornaments we have collected over the years and making the house festive. Merry Christmas to you.

ReplyDeleteI would love to win your giveaway!

After my dad passed away my mom and I started a new tradition of going to dinner on Christmas Eve and then driving around various neighborhoods to look at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music. It's chance to relax amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday. Thanks for the giveaway. I'm trying to build a Christmas fabric stash and these would be a welcome addition. Love the kittens!
ReplyDeleteI dont have any Christmas fabric. I love that cat one!
ReplyDeleteOpps- forgot to mention my favourite memory.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were little we (4 kids) would be getting into the presents before we were supposed to- just shaking them etc. So Santa would make 4-5 stops at our house so we had a little stocking stuffer each day leading up to Christmas. This gave us something to look forward to as well as open!
I just lost my comment so I'll try again....I love the vintage Christmas fabric, esp the red with white reindeer. Guess what? I have a stocking hanging by my fireplace right this minute using that fabric! I would love to own another piece of it to make my grandson a stocking. My favorite tradition is opening stocking stuffer gifts ....one at a time! With lots of family here, just opening stocking gifts takes forever! Oh so much fun!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is making pjs for the kids. The "kids" are now in their 20's and I still use little kid prints but they wear them.
ReplyDeleteI remember my older sister coming back home to spend the weekend after she was married and we played monopoly all weekend. It was really nice and I always have fond memories of those days.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too! And my favourite tradition is just picking someone to do something nice for - this year it's the lovely men up at the local mechanic, they're getting some baking when I get around to doing it!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite tradition at Christmas was on Christmas eve to have a bath, get into our brand new pjs and watch a Christmas film with hot chocolate!
ReplyDeleteA Christmas tradition we have is a Christmas Eve fondue. I'm sometimes nervous with the combination of hot oil and candles on the table but it's a meal the entire family looks forward to all year. We linger at the table, reminisce and eat way too much.
ReplyDeleteA favorite tradition we always did was to go caroling. We haven't seen carolers in ages.

Your giveaway's awesome!!!!, one of the traditions we have's on Christmas day all the family use to go to my grandma's place, we're making that year after year, have a meal (everyone brings food and gifts) and stay all day with her. She's now almost 102 years old!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't enter these things that often because I don't have any luck. But my daughter said I should so here goes, in the past she had me enter for her. This time I hope to win something for my wife.

When we moved into our new house (the current one) I got a huge room upstairs all to myself, with tons of wall space just begging for bookshelves. Well, for Christmas that year my parents got me some lovely white ones to fill that space. The funny thing was, I didn't even notice them sitting next to the tree until nearly two hours after we had first gone downstairs for Christmas morning. :)
ReplyDeleteOooh... and do we get the candy canes too? lol I hope so! Well, my favourite holiday tradition is kind of lame and involves me running through the house at about 6 am screaming "Santa came! Santa came!" much to the dismay of my fifty-something husband and my kids who are in their twenties.
