Traveling Stash Box of Awesomeness!!!

I received a second traveling stash box this week, #3!  I was so excited because it had lots of goodness in it!

Fat quarters, half yards, yards...
That bundle is 8 lucious Maywood wool FQs !  I resisted!

notions and handmade goodness...
That is an embroidered mug rug, a cute pouch, bobbin bikinis, rick rack, beads, and more!

a bunch of patterns,

and even a little Kate Spain apron panel goodness!

I took out some DS Quilts charm squares and fat quarters and some other repro goodness.

Im putting in some things I love but I just need to make some room.  My new rule is if I'm not using it within a couple of years it has to go somewhere.  So here are

a couple of little quilt kits(pictured on bags)-I love these but never have time to make them.  Charm packs-Im a little addicted and needed to share the charm love.  The one on the right is 4 " squares of those celtic knots in different colorways and patterns.

The large FR box is packed full!  Leave a comment below and I will pick a winner (US only please) on Tuesday July 1.  I will need to mail by Friday so watch to see if you win!

I forgot to add that you need an active blog in order to participate.

The Reckoning,,,

So I thought being on summer break I would get more done.  But I forgot the brain drain recovery time needed at the end of a school year.  I also forgot the three quilts I wanted to have in binding stage.  So...

1.  Make more Swoon blocks!  I have 5 finished and only four left to go!   Did not achieve.  To be honest I am about to sew one tonight unless my plans are disrupted like last nights (more later).
Update: I finished my sixth block!
(warning bad light photo)
UPDATE UPDATE!!!!  Finished all my blocks and its not yet July!!!

2.  Finish binding on Star Trek quilt.      Success!

3. Catch up on my Grandmother's Choice blocks.  Did not achieve. I am so far behind.  I will have time to catch up later.

Other finishes:

Now I got my Amy Butler charm square quilt to the hand binding stage!

I tied it at the intersections and did some machine quilting down the middle of the rows.

The duck was my attempt to lure Kalli-cat onto the quilt to take her picture.
She daintly walked around the edges.

Until the sun came out and she tried to decide if she wanted to lay on it.  She didnt.
The backing and binding are all Amy Butler fabrics too.

But it will be loveliness for me to sleep under on my vacation!

I also finished two other quilt tops and backs.  Im hoping to baste and start quilting them tomorrow.  Thy are gifts so I cant show them.  But I promise to take pictures when finished to share.

Oh and I made a placemat for me in the RV.  Great way to use up an extra block and my favorite scraps.

Vintage Daddy!

We celebrated Father's Day yesterday with my sister and bil.

I presented my Daddy with this Star Trek quilt.

Block says "To boldly go where no Dad has gone before..."
The blocks were from a 1994 Quiltnet block swap.

I used 4 cool Star Trek prints for the back.

Quiltnet was one of the original 'Modern' quilting groups.
We used email list servs to share patterns, faqs and organize swaps.  We were an international quilt group.
Quiltnet World quilt with border blocks sent from all over the world.  Computer block from logo.
I was looking for a photo in one of my old albums and decided to do a 1980's montage of photos of my Daddy.
Dad hand cutting a mantle with a broad axe.
Dad tearing out walls in the basement of our new NC house.
Dad reading parts manuals to fix something.
Captain Glenn going up the creek into Deer Lake in Canada.
Dad fileting fish.
Dad dancing at a wedding with his girls.
Dad always building something with his girls helping!
Dad and me taking a ride!
Dad cant wait to curl up under his new quilt!

Happy fathers Day!

Modern Mini Quilt Challenge

" Deadly Dresden"

I created the Deadly Dresden for my partner in the Doll Quilt Swap.

I used my favorite Denyse Schmidt fabrics in a rainbow.  I accentuated each blade with hand quilting in a matching pearl cotton.

I love the tattoo fabric from Spoonflower that I used in the center.

It is what we as quilters and crafters believe.
We must create!

I have one more piece of that fabric that says "Quilt or Die"!
I am planning a second 'Deadly Dresden" just for me!

Made this 8" Swoon mini block as my happy block!
The linen and 1" blocks made this very hard to get points lined up.
After a lot of ripping and resewing I finally gave up.
Its homage to the green Chevy my dad had and I loved to drive.
